IncrediMail
FreePOPs is a stand-between program. It acts as the liaison between your email client and your free webmail service provider (like Yahoo!, HotMail, GMail). This document will help you setup your IncrediMail client for use with FreePOPs.
Prerequisites:
- Latest version of FreePOPs downloaded and installed
- IncrediMail XE (in this document I used IncrediMail XE, but all IncrediMail are quite the same) installed
- Internet Connection :)
- Open IncrediMail
- From the Menu Bar click Tools -> Accounts. A screen similar to
the one below will appear. If you started IncrediMail for the first
time, then skip Step 2, 3 and 4 and follow from Step 5.

- You will see a window like the
one below. In that window click the Add
button to start the new account wizard.

- A window asking some information
about you will appear like the
one below. Fill the form up and
click Next to proceed.

- A screen as below will appear.
Click Next to proceed.

- A window asking your name and
Email address like the one below will appear.

Put your name in the Your Name is field and your Email address in the Your email address field. Click Next.
- Now another box as below will
appear. This window will search for your account's host automatically,
but as your email account is not in a real pop3 server, you have to
skip this by pressing the Skip
button.

- The next window, like the
one below, will appear, asking for your mail server details. Put localhost in the Incoming email server field.

And put your ISP's SMTP server name in the Outgoing mail server field. As FreePOPs doesn't have any SMTP support for sending mail, you have to depend on your ISP's SMTP server for outbound mail. Click Next.
- In the window like the one below,
you have to put your entire email
address as your user name in the Username
field and your Webmail password in the Password field. Click Finish.

You might be thinking why you need to put the whole email address here, as you only put your username while checking your free webmail host through web browser. Well, as you know FreePOPs is a middle software between your pop3 mail client and your free webmail provider and supports multiple webmail providers through different individual plugins. So, when your mail client sends any requests to FreePOPs by sending the login name and password, FreePOPs detects the part after the @ sign and decides which plugins to use and which server to connect to. That is why you have to put your complete email ID here. Hope you understand.
- If you have started IncrediMail
for the first time, then you have to go again to Tools
-> Accounts. Then by
selecting the account in the Mail
Accounts window, you have to click on Properties to bring up the Properties window. But if you have
added a secondary account then select the newly added account and click
Properties to bring up the
Properties window.

In the Properties window like the one above, go to the Servers tab and put 2000 in the Incoming mail server -- port field. Click OK to close this window and click Close to close the Mail Accounts window.
